I'm a graphic designer and an entrepreneur living in Vermont.
David Zahn is the president of Signal Advertising - an electronic advertising agency in Montpelier. He is a visual artist by training and a graphic designer and media technologist by profession. After graduating from the Pratt Institute in 1969, David came to Vermont in 1971 to pursue a career as a ski instructor; he and his wife Anci Slavak have lived in South Woodbury since 1975. David and Anci have been a part of the Vermont business community since 1979 when they founded a toy company that manufactured and distributed a futuristic toy product called the "ZIZIX". Since 1985 David and Anci have worked in the field of computer graphics and interactive marketing, beginning with their company Wordgraphics in Stowe, where they ran a typesetting and design business and helped pioneer the use of computers in quality print advertising. Following this in 1991 David and his partners created Vermont's first full service electronic advertising agency - Signal Advertising - dedicated to the work of matching new technology solutions to the advertising and marketing needs of local and regional businesses. David has worked on interactive media and hyper-text based presentation systems since the first release of Hyper Card in 1988, and was an active developer in the CD-ROM publishing business in the early 90's. When the Internet explosion began, in mid decade, Signal hit the net running and was among the first to provide fully secure ecommerce web sites for Vermont businesses. Today Signal Advertising hosts a wide variety of local and national e-businesses on its internet servers and provides complete web site design and development services to clients, as well as continuing to offer a full range of print media design and graphic production services.
